My day job has power and we were able to move to the new office. Here is a picture of the view from my new cube window. Can you see the smoke making the trees in the distance look hazy? The city smells like a chimney as people without power burn wood to keep warm. We got below freezing last night and expect the same for tonight.
Puget Sound has crews coming from all over the country to work on getting the power back. They're coming from as far as Kansas and Missouri. Some neighborhoods are being told they may have power by the end of this week.Even with power, there are still some hazards. For example, some of the traffic lights that have come back on are having problems because their timing is now off.
And just a random fact because I've hiked there: Chinook Pass had 113 mph winds during the storm.
Some winds around Puget Sound may have been stronger than what they were reporting but lost contact with whatever they were measuring with (or maybe it blew away).

Picture of Issaquah from Seattle P-I. It says the haze is from all the wood-burning.

FYI - It's supposed to be 45 degrees here in Iowa today. People are starting to get bummed because it doesn't look like we are going to have snow for Christmas. Weird, huh?
