Random Winter Things

Now our greetings around here go something like this:
"Hi, how are--"
"I have power at my house!"

Here it is, exactly a week later. People at the office this morning were asking me if I had power. This is odd, I thought. They know I didn't lose power during the storm. Turns out, this morning something happened (no idea what) and my section of the city lost power for five hours. Once again, I strangely seem to be unaffected by it. Sounded like it was north of me. As predicted, some transformers are now exploding, so that could be it.

As of Thursday night, some of my co-workers still didn't have power. One was told by the power company that they might get it back on Monday (Dec 25). But for some reason, their hot water heater is working. I guess I don't understand how those are powered (and she didn't either).

At the office (does that phrase sound weird coming from me, because it feels weird) someone decided yesterday that we would have a White Elephant today. Being busy at the theatre and no time to do anything, my new cubicle-neighbor (who I love!) brought wrapping paper this morning. I kept saying how I was really bad at wrapping. As I was finishing, she looked over and said,"Oh, I thought you were just being self-deprecating, but you really can't."
