Adventures in Moving: Chapter Four - Moving

Saturday. Late morning. My parents, Pic, and I. We pack up one load into my dad's truck. Get to the house. Lou and the dogs greet me at the gate. She informs me that Girl just left an hour ago to see if she could rent a U-Haul. WITHOUT A RESERVATION. March 31st in Seattle - TONS of people are moving this day.

So we head walk over to a diner for lunch. A long lunch. Pic and I start heading back to the house. We're across the street when we see something come flying out of the attic window (my room) and on to the front lawn.
"Do you think that's Lou or Girl?" I ask.

Then we see Lou's head pop out the window, ready to throw the next thing. Girl was still waiting for a truck. Lou was shoving things to one side so I could start to move my things in, throwing anything non-breakable out the window. We started to help. But I really wanted us to save our energy for MY move.
Half of her things were already on the lawn by the time she finally showed up. Lou had to stick around to make sure she got the money owed. Which meant she had to call someone else to close the barn she works at. And I was now half a day behind. So there is three people right there that were inconvenienced by this little chickee.

One thing I highly recommend when moving: Housesitting! And it was in Wills - one of the reasons I moved there. It was great - I had my regular petsitting suitcases all ready to go. I had a place to sleep without having to build a bed. I didn't have to climb over boxes. Anything I needed was right there and didn't have to hunt for it. The only downside: I wasn't just housesitting, I was petsitting. So occasionally I would have to leave the moving and go on dog duty.
