Somebody's Getting Married

... to quote a Muppet song. Cousin Emily invited me over to her new place in Green Lake for a housewarming party.
As I was out of town, I arrive just as the party has wound down to just a few people.
Her older brother, Tristan, is there. He starts to say, “Have you met…” I start nodding my head. I’ve met his girlfriend on a few occasions. He finishes with “… my fiancée, Diana?”
I had never heard her introduced as such!
Turns out the whole housewarming thing was all a ruse. It was really for Tristan and Diana to announce their engagement. They just got back from New York, where he proposed.
Tristan is the first person in our generation of the family to make plans to get hitched.

One funny part, Diane’s last name is Czech. When Tristan told Babi her name, she said,”Oh, we’re related to the [surname]s.” That side of her family comes from northern Nebraska. Our Czech family comes from southern South Dakota.
Mum is doing our genealogy and she might need to do some research real quick!
