Oh, you didn't know?

Quinn tagged me, so here are Eight Things You Don't Know About Me. Although I am sure that for some of you, it might a little less than eight.

1. Growing up, I hated being called "Jules" outside the family. Not sure why. Probably because sentences within the family would usually start, "Say, Jules, have you cleaned the catbox yet?" "Jules, go fetch me a..." etc.
Now I love it when people call me it, esp. people I'm just starting to become friends with. I think it shows affection or closeness to call someone by a nickname. But I spell it Joules now (because it is a unit of energy!).

2. Pot smoke makes my nose run. Even though I have never smoked it myself, I have been around it. And I don't have any other known allergies. It's the only thing that will get a direct reaction from my nose.

3. Every two years I play in a Washoos Tournament but never play the game at any other time.

4. I was once was so broke that I had a bum offer me his change.
I was at a bus stop. This gentleman in very dirty clothes comes up to me and asks for spare change. I told him, "Sorry, all the money I have is for the bus" (which was true) and opened my fist to reveal nickles, dimes, and pennies equalling exactly $1.25.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he said, and started to dig through his pockets. "Here, do you need any more?" and started to hand me some of his coins.
I told him no, that I would keep my change and he would keep his.

5. I have nightmares if I sleep on my back.

6. I wore a size 8 skirt to Opening Night on Friday. Until a few months ago, I hadn't worn a one-digit size since the beginning of junior high. The skirt I wore was Gap brand (bought at Goodwill - only mention that for those of you who know my feelings towards such brands and are questioning), so I'm probably closer to a 9 or 10. Nine is still a one-digit!

7. I have this feeling when I'm in wealthy neighborhoods or expensive stores that they are going to find me out, that I don't belong there and will be kicked out - even though this has never happened to me (that I can recall) and I don't know where the basis of this comes from.

8. I took Japanese in high school, Russian and Sign Language in college, and took some more sign language classes at a theatre I was working at a few years ago. Just thought I would put it on the list since others seemed to be listing languages they took in school.

Joules is cool but I'd rather call you Kiwi...
