I want to challenge Vegas's claim that the other animals are idiots. Reno (the black cat) did something brilliant the other day.
I was on the couch in the living room and the small dogs were both on my lap somehow. Reno strolled in, came up to us and examined my lap. Definitely full. So he walked across the room to the fire place where some crumpled up newspapers lay. He gently put his paw on the newspapers and pressed down twice. The crinkling paper sound got the dogs all excited (yeah, I have no idea why, either). They leaped off of my lap and started running around the living room barking. As they were spazzing out, Reno casually walks over and hops into my now empty lap.
