He created it to fight against the winter darkness (both literally and mentally). Usually the activities are less embracing of winter so I was surprised when the plan was to snowshoe to the ice caves. A place I've never been and something I've never done.

Slight change of plans. Turns out the bridge to the ice caves is - well, between The Flood and The Windstorm - either is damaged or non-existent. So instead of heading north, we headed east to Gold Creek along I-90. There were 14 of us total.
Here you can see the types of snowshoes we had. The rentals (which is what I had) looked like the black one in the middle. Everyone that owned a pair seemed to have the green canvas ones.

Attempt at a close-up of the kind I had. I was using an expired water-proof disposable camera, so the pictures aren't all that impressive. It was also overcast, nothing but gray skies the entire time.
The trail was really just a service road with a lot of other people on it. So we went off-road for a little bit to get the real experience. And then decided that was enough and went back to the trail. Here we are taking a break once we got back to the main trail. A little later we sat down (uh-huh) for lunch.
Look closely at the backpack on the right. That would be three snowballs her husband stacked on there. There were snowball fights, races, and even a snowman.
The founder of FW!c has a house with a hot tub. So afterwards it was off to their house. I just stuck my legs in (I don't like hot tubs. I feel like I can't breathe). Then us few remaining played Settlers with the Seafarers add on (the only way to play).
I can't believe I did all that and still got to bed on time!
