Stuff In My Studio

I am now responding to K-Lyn's response to By My Muse. Although this looks suspiciously like a meme.
Day One: Ten Favorite Things in Your Home

1. Maneki Neko key ring holder. This is one of the very few "organizing" objects I actually use every day (well, the rare times I'm staying at my own place, I should say).
2. Tree Branch Curtain Rod. My aunt and I sawed it down right from her Branford Pear in the front yard. Whittled off the bark.
3. The computer. Also used as a stereo. Probably also like it because it's one of the few things I can easily find in this clutter.
4. The cow lamp that I've had since college. Dad gave it to me as a gift and I have a suspicion it comes from Tillamook.
5. down comforter - esp. since I really don't heat my apartment much.
6. microwave. I wouldn't even think of this until I petsat for someone who didn't have one. I didn't realize how much I depend on it.
7. Ice Cream Scooper. The only thing I have from my grandpa, Harvey, who I never met. I'm told that this is from the College Side Inn restaurant. It's the best scooper and impossible to break. It must be at least 50 years old.
8. One Red Flower signed poster. Not for the signatures, but from the really nice messages all the guys left for me. And the memories.
9. Toaster. can you tell I'm not a cook?
10. picture albums/scrapbooks

I was at a Youth Board retreat this weekend (for church). One of the get-to-know-you games was asking questions from these cards. Your blog entry reminds me of one of the questions, "what do you own that is most important to you?"

We decided to interpret that as what material thing, and many of the answers were less the really expensive things in our lives and more of the sentimental.

And to tie in both responses: the lavendar material on the tree branch is the scraps left over from when spike and I had our bridesmaid dresses hemmed.
It was just by chance that the branch fit perfectly to this window because we just cut it on a whim one day without any planning.
