Born today: Eleanor Charlotte Smith. Named after her mother, Charlotte Eleanor. German on her mother's side and Danish on her father's. The oldest of three kids. She says with a wink that she was a "love child."
Eleanor met Al at church, after he (and quite a few others) noticed a pretty girl singing in the choir. They were married and then Al was shipped to Hawaii during the war. They had three kids, the oldest being my dad.
And since I am the oldest grandchild, I am the one who initiated her into Grandmahood!
She has a very big heart and is always welcoming more people into our family. On some holidays at her house, I think there are more 'adopted' relatives than people I am actually blood-related to!
