...lo, Dolly!I am no longer a sound engineer. Well, for the next few months anyways.
The plan was I would leave GOMD when it moved north and start on the running crew of Dolly. But they couldn't find a sound engineer to replace me. So they found someone who could take my place at Dolly until GOMD closed.
They did a pretty good job of making my sub similar to me. Short female who crochets backstage and goes swing and blues dancing the same places I do. There is a lot of new people on crew for this show. Apparently no one mentioned that I have been working here for years. As my sub was showing me the ropes (literally. I do fly some things) she started to introduce me to people, some who are my good friends. I finally confessed that I have worked here before.
As the actors got into places, one of them shook the hands of each crew member, "have a good show... have a good show...have a - Julie! What are you doing back here?!"
So some of my responsibilities include working the mechanical winch - I'm the stage right winch wench! I'm a bit nervous since I haven't done running crew in a very long time. And I've never dealt with a winch before. What if I suck at this? Guess I won't know unless I try!

Which rachet wrench does a winch wench use?

Wow...and now you can lead vocal warm-ups, too!
