My work place is probably not like yours...
The Cats have been rehearsing while us Island Folk have been in performances. (I did find out that I am doing 'Cats' at some point). Pictured here is the sign that is up in the rehearsal hall bathrooms. Some of you who know the process are probably thinking, 'wait, they already have their tails?" Nope. Just like rehearsal skirts, The Cats have rehearsal tails; white braided ropes.
That's the way we keep referring to them. The Cats. Not 'the cast'or 'the people in/from' etc. Often Damn Cats. Such as "Damn Cats drank everything in the pop machine." "Damn Cats took up all the parking spaces." And yes, plenty of pussy jokes to go around as well.
On Saturday, The Cats got out of rehearsal early and some came to see our show. So our actors kept throwing in 'cat' movements throughout the performance. After the show, some came backstage and told us, "We loved it! It was much better than...Cats..."*
A couple of us snuck into the scene shop (shhh, don't tell anyone) and had our pictures taken on the very large chair and very large shopping cart that will be seen in our production. Unfortunately I cannot publish those since they are copyrighted items, but you can e-mail me if you wish to see them and I'll send you the pictures.
I had a big compliment - in a roundabout way - from an actor's friends who came to see the show. They said that they have seen other productions of OOTI but this is the first one they actually enjoyed and one of the main reasons was they could understand and HEAR everything that was going on. It made it a lot easier to follow. This is a team effort, though. So yay to the actors for being so clear, to the band and music director, the sound designer, and me. Go team!
*I hate to have to astrix this, but I realize I do have some foreign readers who won't get the Saturday Night Live (tv show) reference - it's a pop-culture joke.

No offense to the Cats, but I saw that show once (in Cleveland) and I wouldn't list it in my top ten or anything....
Uhh.. me either. I didn't think I would even have to be involved. So much for that thinking.
